6th date, Adrian!

First off, I have to say that Adrian was the very first date I had set-up for this 29 dates thing and he has been promoting it a ton, almost more than me, so I have definitely been looking forward to our date tonight!  When I opened the door, I was instantly taken by Adrian’s dashing appearance, accented by the beautiful bouquet of flowers he was holding.  Smart man!  We went to First Friday in downtown Las Vegas.  There was lots of people and music and art and food.  We stopped at one of the deep fried booths and tried some deep fried Oreos and Reese’s, and yes they were delicious.

We got to meet some pretty awesome characters like a fox lady.

And a lady who owns a small monkey.  The monkey liked Adrian, it just hopped right from her shoulder onto his. 🙂

We even danced to a really good local band, Play for Keeps.  Adrian actually went to high school with one of the band members who gave him a shout out.  He’s so well known. 🙂  After walking around First Friday, we took a quick jaunt as tourists and checked out the Pawn Stars shop since we were downtown anyway.  It was just as you might imagine a pawn shop to be, but with its own gift shop. 😉

We ate at Adrian’s favorite hole in the wall gourmet burger joints, Rum Runner.  We were the only ones there so that was pretty awesome, and the burgers were made exactly how we each wanted them, nice.  After diner we stopped at the Reunion Trails Park which is one of the newer parks with space age light-up  equipment.  They also have some pretty sweet swings 🙂

Some great things to know about Adrian.  He is a true gentleman through and through.  He opened every door for me, when entering and exiting the vehicle and everywhere else. He is also super smart, ask him about his numerous degrees sometime.  He’s got great dating maturity, he knows how to treat his date well.  He is kind and respectful and an all around great man.

Thanks for the lovely date, Adrian!

5th date, Kirk!

Kirk is Mr. Adventurous!  He contacted me after he saw the blog and was excited enough about the idea to sign up! He started the evening our by asking, pizza or Thai.  No contest.  We went to Pin Kaow and it was delicious!  I also got to use the only Thai I know, khob khun ka which is thank you (if you’re a woman).  Super International 😉

After dinner we went to play miniature golf at King Putt.  I had actually never been here before and there were fun little surprises at many of the holes.  I’m pretty sure most of our golf swings would have been labeled “You’re doing it wrong”, but I will say we did pretty well with the pool table putt.

Kirk’s favorite part was the air soft target launcher.  We did that one a few times. 🙂

We ended up taking many pictures on this date, mostly goofy selfies, ha!

Kirk and Jecia

As we were leaving King Putt, we spotted a young couple who looked like they were right out of high school talking in the parking lot.  They radiated with that awkward new couple aura, so as we drove out of the parking lot, Kirk pulled up next to them and blasted “Kiss the Girl” from Little Mermaid, thoroughly embarrassing them.  It was hilarious. 🙂

We stopped at a Wendy’s for a frosty and went to a nearby park to swing. I’m not sure how it happened, but Kirk somehow got frosty on his back pocket so as he cleaned it off I doused him with water, which is similar to being super helpful. 🙂

Some great things to know about Kirk.  He is a hard worker but he also knows how to play.  He’s super social chatting and joking with some of the other mini-golf players which added to the fun.  He’s goofy and relaxed and is ok with being a little ridiculous in public.

He’s pretty much a lot of fun to be around.  Thanks for the great date, Kirk!

4th date, Ryan!

This was an evening of planned and unplanned surprises.  Ryan picked a great place for dinner, Macayo’s!  It’s been ages since I’ve been here, and it was a delicious surprise.  We finished it off with some fried ice cream, mmm boy!

During our dinner conversation, Ryan mentioned working with bucket trucks.  I said off handedly that I would love to “ride” in a bucket truck one day.  Little did I know Ryan actually has a bucket truck.

So after dinner we went for a visit.

The view of the strip from 55 feet up is pretty sweet.

And as if that wasn’t awesome enough, we finished up the evening with a little moon lit driveway dancing to some classic Frank Sinatra.  A little cheezy?  You bet, and totally fun too.

Some great things to know about Ryan.  It’s pretty obvious from his date that he’s great with coming up with fun ideas on the fly.  He’s also cool with entertaining my slightly ridiculous inclinations, like riding in a bucket truck…  He likes to take travel adventures and has been all over the world.  He’s looking towards the future and moving in a forward direction.  He’s a good dancer.

This has been a most lovely evening.  Thanks for all the surprises, Ryan!

3rd date, Ray!

I just have to say that it’s super attractive when a date is willing to be flexible with their plans.  Instead of heading out to Fremont street to walk around we had dinner over at his place.  He made chicken and vegetables which was delicious! He specifically mentioned that he loves to cook and does so all the time, or maybe it was the opposite. 😉  We ate out on the back patio, it was a perfect evening to be outside with a light breeze.

I met Ray just a few weeks ago.  I mentioned this crazy dating idea to him and he was happy to be a part of it, and this after knowing me for just a half hour.  That’s pretty gutsy if you ask me! He hasn’t even heard my karaoke yet which is usually a deal breaker.

Some great things to know about Ray. He is a great cook and he cares about eating clean and being active.  He’s genuine and remembers things that I mention.  He’s good at going with the flow and from what I’ve seen of him doesn’t get easily ruffled.  He’s an all around good guy and pleasant company.  I definitely had a very enjoyable evening spending time with him.  Thanks, Ray!

2nd date, Nick!

Yay Nick! Nick has been such a stud about this whole venture.  I mentioned it to him early on and he was quick to jump onboard telling me that it would be great and people people would sign up and not just stare at my blankly…   So far he’s been mostly accurate, haha! I’ve been friends with Nick for a while now though today was our first date!

And he picked one of my favorite activities, froyo! Island yogurt is “totes the best hun cal froyo”, though I definitely got more than a hundred calories worth.  They have a cool little arcade room in the back so we hung out there and talked about the threat of a bear invasion and the dangers of dancing and the benefits of insurance for bassoonists, obviously since I am the author and have no creative license when it comes to retelling my dates.  All this we did while savoring our sumptuous creations.

Some great things to know about Nick.  He is way chill and fun to be around.  He has an infectious laugh, he lives what he believes and he really cares about his family. He was way gentlemanly and considerate towards me, plus he has some pretty sweet dance moves, ask him to teach you how to Dougie some time 😉

Side note, Nick, you can take comfort in knowing that I have yet to go hulk over a dancing invitation 😉 Thanks for the great date!

1st date, Josh!

Well, this was a great way to start 29 dates!  Most of the guys set up for dates are going to be first dates, though Josh and I have been on a couple of dates before in the past.  Josh is one of my favorite people and just an all around great man.

We had to be a little flexible because our original date idea fell through.  As a back-up date he borrowed some markers from my roommate that ended up sitting on the table the whole time.  Instead we talked and the time just flew by.  We talked about classes and about work about dating and relationships about Las Vegas and our service missions.  It was a very relaxed and pleasant conversation.  We had some good laughs while making up some ridiculous therapy scenarios.  He made us both some EXCELLENT fruit smoothies, I told him if his career doesn’t work out he could have a future in smoothies 😉

Some great things to know about Josh.  He is very easy to talk to and a great listener. He shows genuine interest in the conversation and in what’s going on in my life. He radiates love and concern for the people around him.  He is very passionate about helping people and about his career, he is currently pursing a masters degree and his program goes throughout the summer so he will, sadly, not be available for the date to Rome. Sad face.

I couldn’t have planned a better start to the 29 dates!  All the pressure often associated with a date was gone. Thanks for being so flexible and fun, Josh!

29 dates starts tomorrow!!

It’s about to get real.  I hope you have something to hold on to because this is going to be  a wild ride!  Not like the carnival ride you rode three times after eating a whole vat of cotton candy; less nausea, though a seat belt may still be a good idea.  Also, still time to sign up for a date, so get on that!
